On Thursday, July 18th, the City of San Antonio World Heritage Office is proud to present a showing of Pretty in Pink during the annual Outdoor Family Film Series at Mission Marquee Plaza. Come out for a free family-friendly evening including entertainment, food trucks, and a showing of the featured film on the original jumbo screen. Don’t miss it!
Pretty in Pink is a 1986 American romantic comedy about love and social cliques in American high schools in the 1980s. Teenager Andie (Molly Ringwald) is one of the not-so-popular girls in high school. She usually hangs out with her friends Iona (Annie Potts) or Duckie (Jon Cryer). Duckie has always had a crush on her, but now she has met a new guy at school, Blane (Andrew McCarthy). He's one of the rich and popular guys – but can the two worlds meet?
The Mission Marquee Plaza, formerly known as the Mission Drive-In Theatre, officially opened in 2014. The facility is located on the Southside of San Antonio near Mission San Jose, which is one of San Antonio’s five historic Missions recently designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The area was originally inhabited by the native Coahutecan tribe, whose origins date back to the prehistoric era, and is considered one of San Antonio’s iconic gems.
Mark your calendar for a free screening of Pretty in Pink at Mission Marquee Plaza on Thursday, July 18th! Visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets and snacks to enjoy during the movie. The grounds are pet friendly and on-site parking is available. The venue opens at 7 p.m. and the movie begins 15 minutes after sunset.
